Storage Drawers

Cupboards in your kitchen are made to keep things ready at hand, but storage drawers may be a more workable solution to your storage problems. If you have deep cupboards, it may be almost impossible to reach the things that are stored in the back, without a step stool. The way to avoid this issue is installing drawers. You can have large drawers that will open and close easily, and they can accommodate even your larger crockery and pots and pans. Since you can pull the drawers open easily, you can now reach everything in your cabinets.

You can also buy inserts that will hold stacks of crockery and bottles of various sizes. Slip mats placed inside will keep the bottles from moving when you open and close the drawers.

If you are considering the modernization of your kitchen, you may want to install drawers that close softly on runners. These will help to cushion the contents of the drawer, when you close it. This will stop the drawer from banging, and the contents from being thrown about. After you’re used to this type of system, you’ll never use normal drawers again.

You can also find drawers now that open electrically. You simply push on the face of the drawer, and that activates a mechanism that opens the drawer for you. There will be no handles to break off or keep clean, and elderly members of your family will find the electric drawers easier to use.

You can give yourself even more kitchen space by using toe-kick drawers. These are installed under your cabinets, using space that you usually waste. These are very handy for large items, frying and baking pans and platters. They’re not handy for anything else, since they are so low, but the storage room comes in handy.

Pull-out pantries can also give you more storage room. These are similar to drawers, but they are vertical rather than horizontal. This can make it easier for you to get to items that are stored near the back of pantry shelves, which otherwise you would have to dig for. A pull-out drawer in your pantry can make it quite easy to access the whole depth of the storage area, and this will increase your overall storage space.

You can also install drawers for extra storage under beds. Lots of people slide things under beds to store them, but if you install drawers there, they can even replace a part of your bureau or a part of your closet. This will allow you extra storage space. With patience and some tools, you can create a frame under your bed for additional storage space.

In order to build a frame, you’ll need to remove the mattress from the frame of the bed, and then measure to determine the size of frame you’ll be building. Be sure to add an extra inch and a half on each side, so that you can easily open the drawers. Use six drawers to set up your organization under-bed storage drawers, and you’ll be pleased with how much extra room this will give you.
